Charley is a graduate of the United States Naval Academy and formerly served on active duty as a Cyber Warfare Engineer, where he specialized in developing essential tools for the U.S. Navy. His military career gave him a strong foundation in cybersecurity, software development, and the design of complex systems across Linux, Windows, and embedded platforms.
His career has also included building websites and leading data-driven projects. As a student, he collaborated on a Department of Defense grant to create an AI model predicting future actions based on behavioral patterns. He later developed tools to assess neighborhoods' visual appeal, using data to inform real estate investment decisions.
While at the Naval Academy, Charley served as the Financial Officer, where he provided guidance on personal finance strategies and helped peers optimize their savings using military benefits. He also managed event logistics and operated a student-run supply center, ensuring access to everyday goods and resources.
Charley now works in San Francisco at xAI, Elon Musk's AI company, where he is one of the earliest members of their Government Division.
